Choosing to spend the summer in Glacier National Park means seizing the opportunity to live in one of the most spectacular settings on earth. Few will have the opportunity to experience the Park like those who spend the summer living and working in this 1.1 million acre wilderness.
 
Glacier is a unique ecosphere and cultural environment. A sense of openness and adventure resounds in those who find a real sense of home here in the mountains. Our community is diverse. Glacier Park Lodge

Glacier Park Lodge, which celebrated its centennial in 2013, was built by Louis Hill of the Great Northern Railway. Also known as the “Big Tree Lodge,” it is located on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation in the small community of East Glacier Park, MT and adjacent to Glacier National Park’s Two Medicine area. This location provides a small town feel with several independent motels and cafes, a gas station, mercantile, and post office. Personal vehicles are advantageous for exploring the Park. Glacier Park Lodge is our most diverse property and offers outstanding hiking and stunning views without the crowds.

  • Employee Meals: Three (3) hot, cafeteria-style meals served daily in the Employee Dining Room (EDR).  Staples such as fresh fruit, cereals, breads, and a variety of hot and cold beverages available all day. Alternative meal plans available for employees not residing in company lodging.

St. Mary Lodge & Resort

St. Mary Lodge & Resort, our most modern gateway property, is a high volume, multi outlet facility at the east entrance to Glacier National Park. Located on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation, employees enjoy a fast-paced work environment and endless recreation opportunities in the wind-swept east side of Glacier. Though remote, living and working at the intersection of Going-to-the-Sun Road and the eastside boundary highway (MT 89), employees have outstanding access to the entire Park. Hiking is the prevailing enterprise of this diverse workforce when not engaging the millions of annual Park visitors. visitors.

Apgar Village Lodge

Nestled amongst the cedar trees at the foot of Lake McDonald on Glacier National Park’s west side, this location provides and intimate setting for a summer in the park.  Employees at the Apgar Village Lodge and Cedar Tree Gift Shop enjoy the daily hustle and bustle of park visitors, while retaining ease of access to Glacier’s most remote North Fork area.  Kayaking Lake McDonald, enjoying an ice cream cone in the village, and waiting for the Northern Lights to rise over Howell Ridge make for a full, well-rounded day in this idyllic setting.  Employees at this location also live and work in conjunction with our other west side properties.

Motel Lake McDonald

Motel Lake McDonald, a small in-holding near the head of Lake McDonald, represents our smallest operation at Glacier National Park. With limited on-site housing this location is ideal for a commuter or manager comfortable living and working in a more autonomous environment. Employees of Motel Lake McDonald may live and work together with those of West Glacier and Apgar Village. Quick access to Glacier’s Snyder trails complex and Avalanche Lake area encourage employees to hit the trails and explore. A shuttle stop just steps from the motel allows employees to traverse the Going-to-the-Sun Road with ease. Employees may also enjoy an historic boat ride on Lake McDonald, evening Ranger talks, or a quiet night in front of the fire at Lake McDonald Lodge – all a short walk away.

West Glacier, a high volume, multi outlet location, acts as the gateway to Glacier National Park’s west entrance.  Dating to the late 1930s, West Glacier retains a small village feel offering a diverse collection of services to Glacier’s millions of annual visitors.  Employees at this location live and work together with employees of GPI’s Apgar Village and Motel Lake McDonald properties.  Quick access to Glacier’s diverse outdoor pursuits makes West Glacier an ideal home base for a summer exploring the Crown of the Continent.  Only a half hour drive to several vibrant Montana communities, West Glacier also caters to those employees excited to experience local culture outside Glacier National Park.
