Employee Spotlight on Ben Darce

MEET BEN
Ben has lived and worked at Glacier Park Lodge in East Glacier for eleven consecutive seasons. Ben is a server in the dining room. You can also find him on the guitar entertaining guests and employees by the fire nightly. Here's a short Q&A we fit in with Ben between gigs and summits.
WHERE ARE YOU FROM?

"Austin, TX & Greenville, SC."

HOW DID YOU FIND GLACIER?
"I grew up hiking in the Applachian mountains with the Boy Scouts and really enjoyed it. After moving back to South Carolina during the summer while attending college in Texas, I realized the area didn't have the outdoor recreation oppurtunities I was looking for.  Around this time, someone mentioned Glacier National Park to me. I had never heard of the Park before, so I googled it. Iceberg Lake popped up first, then a link for Glacier Park, Inc. job. The rest is history."
MAKING MONTANA HOME
"While in college for music performance, I spent all of my summers in Glacier. Upon graduation, I packed up and made Montana home. I spent this past winter living in Whitefish. I've been so lucky that working for Glacier Park, Inc. has allowed me to pursue my passion for music and the mountains simutaneously."
WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR FREE TIME?
"Climb Mountains. Pursue summits. I explore Glacier as much as I possibly can."
FAVORITE PART ABOUT WORKING IN GLACIER
"My favorite part about working in Glacier besides the oppurtunity to explore remote wilderness is the chance to meet and form relationships. Glacier attracts some pretty unique and wonderful people, I'm happy to be apart of that."

IF YOU COULD BE ANY ANIMAL, WHAT WOULD YOU BE?
"As much as I love hiking and climbing in the mountains, I would be a golden eagle. Hah, this way I wouldn't have to walk everywhere."

Whitefish Mountain Resort has broken snow record after snow record this season. It's also broken my personal record for best day on the mountain.
