Glacier’s Historic Red Bus Heads To Yellowstone For Homecoming 2007: The Return Of The Old Yellow Buses

For the first time in recent history, a Red Bus will take to the road outside of Glacier National Park and drive through parts of Montana where a Red Bus has never driven to participate in Transporting Yellowstone Parade with the restored Yellowstone Yellow Buses.

On Friday, June 1, 2007, a Glacier National Park Historic Red Bus will travel through the state on its’ way to Yellowstone for a special celebration. One of the Historic Red Buses, owned by Glacier National Park and operated by Glacier Park, Inc. (GPI) has been invited to Yellowstone National Park to participate in Homecoming 2007: The Return of The Old Yellow Buses on Saturday, June 2, 2007.

The schedule of events the Red Bus will take part in on Saturday includes daylong festivities highlighted by the “Transporting Yellowstone” parade at 1:00 p.m. From stagecoaches to snow coaches, and antique autos to hybrid passenger cars, the parade will include vehicles that have served or visited Yellowstone over the years. As a special treat, the parade will feature one of Glacier National Park’s Historic Red Buses.

June 2 will be a history-making day for the fleet of Glacier National Park Historic Red Buses.  Not only will Glacier’s vintage Red Bus, one of the fleet of 33 Red Buses, operate and tour in another National Park, but also for the first time, Glacier’s Red Bus will share the same road with its tour bus “brother” during a parade.

“Glacier Park, Inc. is proud to participate in the homecoming of Yellowstone’s Historic Yellow Buses.”, said Cindy Ognjanov, president and general manager of Glacier Park, Inc. “The request to make history by bringing the buses together makes a grand statement about the legacy and sustainability not only of Montana’s National Parks, but also the publics’ endearment to these extraordinary touring coaches.”

On Friday, June 1, a Red Bus is scheduled to depart East Glacier at 8:00 a.m. for its journey to Yellowstone.  GPI’s transportation manager, Dave Eglsaer has chosen a route to show off the vintage Red to communities as it drives through Browning, Bynum, Choteau, Great Falls, I-15 South to Helena, Townsend, I-90 east to Bozeman, Livingston and on Highway 89 to Yellowstone.  Visit Glacier Park, Inc.’s website www.glacierparkinc.com for a link to the Red Bus route and estimated times it will pass through Montana towns.
