What telephone number should I call in order to speak with someone about my reservations?

When should I call to make reservations?

Reservations are made on a first-come-first-serve basis. We begin taking lodging reservations 14 months in advance.

What is the weather like?

The northern rocky mountain weather systems are constantly changing. Glacier's western valleys generally receive the most rainfall. Daytime temperatures can exceed 90 degrees F. It is frequently 10 to 15 degrees cooler at higher elevations. Strong winds and sunny days predominate on the east side of the Park. Overnight lows throughout the Park can drop to near 20 degrees F and snow can fall anytime. Please visit www.nps.gov for live webcams and weather reports.

Can we get on a waiting list?

We do not have a waiting list. When reservations are cancelled they go into general availability and are available on a first-come-first-served basis.

Do you get cancellations? Is there a specific time of day to call for cancellations?

Cancellations occur at any time. Availability can be checked on our online reservations page.

Is the Going to the Sun Road going to be open?

Access to the alpine section of The Going-to-the-Sun Road is seasonal and determined by the National Park Service. View what portion of the Road is currently open or call 511 (inside Montana) for up to date information on Park roads.

When will US Highway 2 be open?

US Highway 2 is open year round between East and West Glacier. Temporary closures may occur due to inclement weather. In Montana please call 511 for up-to-date information on State highways.

What is your cancellation policy? Where can it be found on the website?

Deposits are non-refundable if the reservation(s) is cancelled after 5:00 p.m. MDT 72 hours (3 days) prior to arrival date. Deposits are fully refundable for 30 days following the date the reservation was made. From 31 days after the reservation was made until three days prior to the scheduled arrival date, the deposit will be refunded less a $15 administrative fee ($20 for reservations with tours/activities). For reservations made within 30 days prior to arrival, the above policy applies with no grace period.

How do I book more than one room on the website?

Usually the website will recognize your first reservation and will warn you that you are making another one. Simply close down your browser and start over. Sometimes shutting down your computer completely is required. We apologize for this inconvenience. We are working on this technicality.

What is the Glacier National Park Fund Donation?

As a lodging concessioner for Glacier National Park, we would like to introduce you to a program in which we participate that enables you to directly support the Park. Working in collaboration with The Glacier National Park Fund and the National Park Foundation, we offer our guests an easy way to contribute to the Park through a voluntary $1 per day, per room add-on to your room bill. All donations are placed in a restricted account that can only be used to support activities and projects that benefit Glacier National Park. Thank you for your consideration. What does it mean when you go to check availability for a specific property and you receive an error message asking you to call?

This means there most likely is not availability for the exact room type you're looking for. Try altering your dates or number of people.

When can we make reservations for activities like Red Bus Tours, etc.?

Usually activities can be booked beginning in February for the current season.

Are reservations recommended or can we just show up to an activity?

Activities usually sellout; reservations are highly recommended and can be made by calling our Reservations Department at 406.892.2525.

Is there a fee to make a reservation?

No

Do you have a toll-free number?

When is the Park open?

Glacier National Park is open year round.

I thought there wasn't tax in Montana?

There is no sales tax in Montana, but there is a 7% Bed/Accommodation tax that supports and promotes tourism in Montana.

Can we get internet access in the Park?

Internet access is not available within the Park. Areas outside of the Park may have internet cafes available.

Can we get cell phone service in the Park?

In most areas within the Park cell service is not available.

When is the best time to see animals?

Animals can be seen at any time. They are most active in the early morning or late evenings. Wild animals are dangerous. Do not approach or try to feed the wildlife.

When is the best time for photography?

Glacier is beautiful year round.

Why are there no televisions or air conditioners in our rooms?

Our lodges are historic and built before the time of air conditioners and televisions.

What does it cost to make a phone call?

Phone calls within lodging complexes and between all Glacier Park, Inc. (GPI) properties are free. Local calls outside GPI properties have a $.50 connection fee. AT&T operator-assisted rates apply for all long distance calls plus a $.50 connection fee.

Will I have a telephone in my room?

In-room telephones are available at the Prince of Wales Hotel, Glacier Park Lodge, Many Glacier Hotel, and Lake McDonald Lodge. To activate the telephone for outside calls, the front desk must have a credit card imprint or a $10 per day deposit. Phone calls within lodging complexes and between all Glacier Park, Inc. (GPI) properties are free. Local calls outside GPI properties have a $.50 connection fee. AT&T operator-assisted rates apply for all long distance calls plus a $.50 connection fee. Rising Sun Motor Inn, Swiftcurrent Motor Inn, and the Village Inn do not have in-room telephones, but payphones are available.

Do you offer discounts?

Due to our short season, we do not offer discounts.

What should we wear to see Glacier National Park?

The Rocky Mountains are known for the dramatic changes in the weather. Make sure you dress in layers and prepare for all types of weather.

What are the closest airports to the park?

The closest airports are Glacier International Airport (FCA) in Kalispell, MT, Missoula International Airport (MSO) in Missoula, MT, and Great Falls International Airport (GTF) in Great Falls, MT. For discounts on certain flights into Montana call our Reservations Department at 406.892.2525.

Can we rent a car at the train station?

Car rentals are available at the train station. Call our Reservations Department at 406.892.2525 to reserve your car today.

Are bicycles permitted?

Bicycles are restricted on the most hazardous sections of the Going-to-the-Sun Road during peak traffic periods. Bikes are prohibited from going up the West side between the hours of 11am and 4pm. Bikes are allowed to go up the East side and down the West side during any time of the day.

Where can we rent a boat?

Rentals are available at Lake McDonald Lodge, Village Inn, Many Glacier Hotel, and Two Medicine.

Can we camp instead?

Glacier National Park campgrounds are operated by the National Park Service. No advance reservations are accepted. They are on a first-come-first-served basis. Contact the National Park Service at 406-888-7800 for more information.

Are there church services in the Park?

Services are provided through Christian Ministries. Check with the front desk for specific times and locations.

Are tour operators and special events welcome at Many Glacier Hotel?

Groups, weddings, and reunions are welcome with advance notice. Please email our Sales Manager or telephone 406.892.6721 for details.

Do you have government rates available?

Government rates are only available for National Park Service employees visiting on official business.

Where can I find hiking maps?

The National Park Service (www.nps.gov ) and the front desk at any of our properties have trail maps.

Can I bring my pet?

Pets are not allowed except for designated guide, service, and/or hearing companion animals. Pets must be crated, on a leash, or under physical restraint at all times.

What types of credit cards do you accept?

MasterCard, Visa, American Express, and Discover Card (except in Canada).

Are there restrictions for vehicle size on the Going-to-the-Sun Road?

Restrictions apply between Sun Point and Avalanche Creek Campground - total length (including bumpers) must be less than 21 feet and total width (including mirrors) must be less than 8 feet.

Can I book packages or activities online?

You must call our Reservations Department at 406.892.2525 to book packages, specials, activities or to change or cancel a reservation.

Do you have gift certificates available?

Gift certificates for the current season can be purchased by calling our Reservations Department at 406.892.2525.

Do you have a place to store my medication?

Due to Department of Health and Sanitation regulations, we are unable to accommodate guests that need medication stored or administered. We will however, provide ice for guests who need to store medications at lower temperatures.

What qualifies as a group?

A group consists of a reservation with 10 or more rooms. Please contact our Groups Department at 406.892.6721 for more information.

When is the best time to see wildflowers?

Spring is usually the best time to see wildflowers, but many are in bloom all summer for your viewing pleasure.

Can you swim or fish in the lakes?

Yes, you can swim in the lakes, but keep in mind they are glacier fed and so are very, very cold. The average temperature of the lakes never exceeds 40 degrees. Fishing inside Park boundaries is allowed on a catch and release basis without a permit. Please make sure you verify all fishing regulations before fishing.
